MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE

This hands-on workshop invites participants to transform studio waste and discarded materials into mixed media collage artworks. Using recycled paper, fabric scraps, barkcloth, and other found materials, participants will create their own compositions, adding embroidery as a tactile and expressive element.

Inspired by Daur Kebunku (My Garden Cycle) by Novieta Tourisia, the workshop encourages participants to rethink leftover materials as part of the creative process and discover new possibilities through texture, form, colour, layering, and stitch.

CHARCOAL DRAWING THROUGH ERASURE
With A. Jasmine

Inspired by A. Jasmine's Hide and Ascend series, this workshop explores charcoal drawing from a different perspective: drawing by taking away. Participants will begin by building layers of charcoal, then use erasers as drawing tools to gradually uncover forms, textures, and spaces within the darkened surface.

Through this process, participants will experiment with light, shadow, gesture, and composition while considering how landscapes can hold traces of memory and fleeting moments. The workshop encourages a slower way of looking, where each erased mark becomes part of the drawing and unexpected forms can emerge along the way.

NOVIETA TOURISIA

Based in Ubud, Bali, Novieta Tourisia is a textile artist, natural dyer, writer, and founder of Cinta Bumi Artisans. Her multidisciplinary practice explores the intersections of textiles, barkcloth, paper, and language, weaving together ancestral memory, domesticity, and the gentle revolutions of everyday care.

Rooted in Indonesia's native flora and traditional knowledge, Novieta utilizes slow, low-impact methods such as natural dyeing, barkcloth making, eco-printing, and hand-stitching. For Novieta, the roles of artist and mother are inextricably linked; her studio life, fieldwork, and the tending of her children are treated as a single "living loom".

Her work is deeply informed by her lineage of weavers, herbalists, and caretakers. Through her installations, wearable pieces, and hand-bound journals, she explores themes of migration, intergenerational healing, and the preservation of stories that exist outside official records.

Committed to locality and relational ethics, Novieta collaborates frequently with local communities and students to share plant-based dye practices, advocating for a creative process that is both accessible and respectful of its cultural roots.

A. JASMINE

Jasmine is a multidisciplinary creative whose practice explores the many possibilities of artistic expression across visual art, branding, and graphic design. She is committed to deepening her engagement with the creative industries by cultivating an expressive and empathetic approach, embracing learning through rigorous research, thoughtful planning, experimentation, and making.

In her creative practice, Jasmine explores visual languages that evoke emotion, with a particular interest in themes of liminality—the state of being between phases, spaces, or conditions. Working across a range of mediums, she seeks to foster deeper connections with herself and with others through the act of creation.
