The Unseen Thread: Tracing Spirits, Myths, and Memory
A Solo Exhibition by Bagus Ari Maruta, Presented by Bumi Kinar
Exhibition dates: 24 August – 22 November 2025 (open to public)
In his solo exhibition, Ubud-based artist Bagus Ari Maruta (b.1991) weaves traces of mythology, spirituality, and collective memory into a world uniquely his own. His works emerge from the convergence of his everyday roles—as a father, a member of a traditional community, and a contemporary artist—becoming a space for visual exploration between sekala (the seen) and niskala (the unseen).
Through his use of color, textiles, and installation, Maruta does more than create artworks; he animates a mythological and spiritual landscape that feels intimate rather than intimidating. Mountains, trees, and ancestral legends appear as symbols—familiar yet layered with meaning—inviting us into a space that is gentle, warm, and open.
The Unseen Thread becomes a portal: an invitation to listen to what is usually unheard, and to see what is often unseen. In this exhibition, Maruta weaves intangible threads that connect past and present, human and nature, form and meaning.
